There's no buzz (喜悦心情) quite like the one that comes with an impulse purchase. Shopping can indeed improve a bad mood. Most women prefer to do shopping in high streets. In fact, in a survey of over 1,000 American adults, 96% said they had bought something to make themselves feel better. But the perceived benefits of retail therapy often last for only a short time and can give way to longer- term and morale-damaging effects. Negative emotions and sadness can lead to a loss of self worth. And this often is what drives people to tum to shopping when they feel down. However, the positive emotions cannot be ignored, either. The disadvantage: those same negative emotions can come back with great force, along with guilt, if we spend more than we should or plan to.
